Scott is a Strategic Communications Advisor and Editor for the Department of Homeland Security. He has over 20 years of experience leading projects in global corporate communications, national brands of print and digital media (USA Today and Men’s Health Magazine), and multiple efforts in the United States federal government. He previously led communications teams at the Office of Intelligence and Analysis at the Transportation Security Administration, the United States Coast Guard, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, the Office of the Chief Information Officer at the Department of Justice, and the Federal Permitting Council, partnered with the General Services Administration and the Executive Office of the President. Prior to his current federal role he previously worked as a children’s educator and textbook editor in Japan, a graduate student fellow with the Carnegie Council for Ethics in International Affairs, and as an post-conflict analyst with the US Army War College’s Peacekeeping and Stability Operations Institute. He is a graduate of Ohio University and was a part of the founding cohort of Penn State’s School of International Affairs, receiving a Masters in International Affairs. He has been an Advisory Board member since 2015.
