"American Ambassadors" book launch reception

A reception will celebrate the publication of the latest book by retired U.S. ambassador and SIA professor Dennis Jett, "American Ambassadors: The Past, Present, and Future of America’s Diplomats." The reception is sponsored by the Association for Diplomatic Studies and Training (ADST) and the Diplomatic and Counselor Officers Retired (DACOR), and will take place in Washinton, D.C. on Jan. 16, 2015 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the DACOR Bacon House at 1801 F St. NW. ADST has adopted the book as part of its series.
In this new book, Jett explains where American ambassadors come from, where they go, what do they do, and why they still matter. He follows this up with suggestions on how the government can improve American diplomacy.
Jett joined the Penn State School of International Affairs in 2008 after his career in the U.S. Foreign Service and eight years as the Dean of the International Center at the University of Florida. In addition to his time as ambassador in Mozambique and Peru, his experience abroad includes tours in Argentina and Israel, and in Malawi and Liberia as deputy chief of mission. . He also served as special assistant to the president and senior director for African Affairs on the National Security Council at the Carter Center in Atlanta. This is his third book published by Palgrave Macmillan.
