Digital Human Data Research: Critical Law, Policy, & Business Considerations

The Institute for CyberScience is hosting a panel discussion around business, legal, and security/privacy concerns when doing research that involves health data. Panelists will discuss their experiences with past projects as well as an ongoing Penn State project that is leveraging health data acquired from mouth guard sensors to model brain damage in real time. Attendees will also learn about valuable resources that are available to Penn State researchers that can help with navigating potentially sticky legal issues.Panelists include:
- Reuben Kraft, assistant professor of mechanical and biomedical engineering and ICS faculty co-hire
- Rachel Herder, assistant professor of clinical law, Penn State Law, and director of Penn State’s Intellectual Property Clinic
- Ryan Gilmore, interim technical director, Institute for CyberScience
- Thomas Sharbaugh, professor of practice, Penn State Law, and director of Penn State’s Entrepreneur Assistance Clinic
- (Moderator) Anne Toomey McKenna, distinguished scholar of cyber law and policy
