U.S. Army Colonel presents: SOF, Cyber, and the Gray-Zone Fight

Col. Patrick M. Duggan will present "Special Operation Forces, Cyber, and the Gray-Zone Fight" from 1:00 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. on November 12, in Katz 116.
Duggan has published several papers on cyber-enabled Special Operations and is the winner of the 2015 Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, National Defense and Military Strategy Writing Award. COL Duggan was selected for command of Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall-McNair in summer 2016 and is currently the SOF Fellow to the Strategic Land-power TF in the NCR.
After completing Special Forces training, Duggan was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 5th SFG (A). From 2000-2002, he served as Detachment Commander for ODA 561 and participated in the invasion of Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) 2001-2002. From 2002-2003, he served as the Battalion’s Headquarters and Support Company Commander and participated in the invasion of Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF).
After completing the Army Command General Staff College, Duggan served in several staff positions in Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force (JSOTF)-Arabian Peninsula during Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF), from 2007-2008. He thenn served as Commander B Co.1st BN, 5th SFG (A) and Commander Advanced Operating Base 5120 (Central-Southern Iraq) OIF during the height of the "Iraq-Surge" and final Jaysh Al Mahdi uprising of March 2008. From 2008-2009, he served as the Battalion’s S-3 Officer orchestrating Special Forces operational and combat deployments.
Duggan’s awards and decorations include the Presidential Unit Citation, Joint Meritorious Unit Award (2 OLC), Meritorious Unit Commendation, Army Superior Unit Award, Bronze Star (2 OLC), Defense Meritorious Service Medal (1OLC), Meritorious Service Medal (3 OLC), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Combat and Expert Infantryman’s Badges, Special Forces and Ranger tabs, Master Parachutist, Military Free Fall, Pathfinder, and Air Assault Badges and numerous foreign parachutist badges and awards.
