Penn State University ranked one of the world's top 100 universities
Penn State University has been ranked as one of the world's top 100 universities by reputation alone in a report released by Times Higher Education magazine. The annual World Reputation Rankings, which complements the World University Rankings published in the fall, are based on the world's largest survey of academic opinion.
The reputation rankings are based on a global, invitation-only opinion poll carried out by Times Higher Education's rankings data supplier, Thomson Reuters. Almost 31,000 individual academics from 149 countries participated in the survey – providing insight into the reputations of institutions around the world. This year's table of the top universities by reputation is based on a record sample of 17,554 detailed responses, up 31 percent from last year. According to the global reputation ranking, the United States has the largest number of reputable universities, followed by the United Kingdom.
